Environmentalists In The Pocket Of Big Oil!!!

?

This is from the too funny dept.? We hear all the time about how there?s some big oil conspiracy funding the skeptical movement.? It seems that as I was going out to pick up my big oil check, it got intercepted by a nutty environmentalist.? In this case it was Matt Damon.?

The movie may be interesting because it asserts a different conspiracy theory.

The movie presents American oil companies as greedy corporations that trash and pollute small-town America in attempts to extract oil and gas from shale formations. Yet, because fracking has been proven environmentally sound in the real world, the movie suggests oil companies might be planting ?doom-saying? environmentalists in order to undercut the legitimacy of environmental voices all-together.

Lol, that?s a new one!? No Matt, you people are so insane no one needs to plant lunatic enviros to make you people appear vapid.?

The movie ?is financed in part? by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), an OPEC member country.

Well, of course the UAE doesn?t want us using the hydraulic fracturing technique.? It ruins their party.?

Worm or virus, what's the difference?

Computer terminology can be one of the hardest things to wrap your head around. It?s can all seem like mumbo jumbo, with made-up or adopted words. Some of the more confusing terminology comes from programs and software with harmful intent. Is the program infecting your computer a Trojan horse, worm or malware though? It can be hard to differentiate them sometimes.

Here?s an overview of the most commonly used terms for malicious software.

Malware ? Malware is a portmanteau of malicious and software. When we, or any other IT professional, talks about malware, we are generally speaking about any software that is designed to steal information, disrupt operations or gain access to a computer or network. In tech, and indeed many news articles, malware is used as a general term. It can also be referred to in legal circles as a ?computer contaminant?.

Virus - A virus is a malicious code that is spread from one computer to another. Computer viruses are usually introduced to a system by a user downloading and opening an infected file. They can also be spread by removable hard drives, if an infected file is put onto a drive which is then plugged into a new computer and opened. For malicious software to be labeled as a virus, it has to be spread through human action, usually in the form of the user unknowingly opening an infected file.

Trojan horse ? A Trojan horse takes its name from the Greek story where a wooden horse was used to hide Greek soldiers who secretly entered Troy. In a similar way this computer virus is a program that is disguised as a useful program that when installed will do damage to your system. The severity of a Trojan horse varies from annoying to completely destructive, and while they are malicious, they will not replicate or transfer to other computers. Many modern Trojan horse programs also contain a backdoor (more on that below).

Worm ? Worms are similar to a virus. In fact, many experts consider a worm to be a subclass of virus. Worms, like viruses, spread from computer to computer; the major difference being that worms can spread themselves. Computer worms also have the ability to replicate on a host system and send these copies to other users. The most common way of transmission is through email, or via a company?s network, often causing computers to run slowly while using a ton of bandwidth, ultimately leading to a system crash.

Spyware ? Spyware is a malware program that captures user activity and information without the user?s knowledge or consent. Some can even go so far as to capture every single keystroke a user makes ? this is commonly known as a keylogger. Spyware infects computers either through user deception (i.e., ?You?ve won 1,000,000,000 dollars? ads) or through exploits in programs. Some spyware has been known to redirect users to websites or even change computer settings.

Adware ? The main purpose of adware is to show ads and gain the hacker ad revenue. These ads can be pop-ups, extra banners added to web browsers, or ads shown during the installation of third party software. While generally not a form of malicious software on its own, it can, and often does, come with spyware.

Rootkit ? Rootkits are all about stealth. When installed they hide themselves from detection while allowing an unauthorized user to access and control your computer. Nine times out of ten, the unauthorized user will have full administrative access, which means that if they were malicious enough, they could really do some damage.

Backdoor ? Backdoors are similar to Rootkits, in that they allow an unauthorized user to access your computer. Many Trojan horses install a backdoor for the hacker to access and remotely control your system.

Bug - Some users think that a bug in software is a form of malware, placed there by the developer to ruin the program or a system. In fact, bugs aren?t malware, they are an error or fault in the software?s code. It?s true that hackers have exploited bugs to infect systems, but the bug was the way in, not the malicious software itself.

In the early days of the Internet, viruses were often installed separately from Trojans and worms. With the rising complexity and effectiveness of malware prevention software, hackers have started to blend their attacks together, often using a combination of one or more types of malicious software to infect systems. These combination malware infections are normally complex, but have been incredibly effective.

While malware is usually malicious towards single users, a new form of warfare that utilizes malware has arisen. Cyberwarfare is rumored to have been used by governments and companies to steal information or completely disrupt a countries information networks. While most Cyberwarfare is conducted at the country or conglomerate organization level, it is only a matter of time before small to medium companies are targeted.

Tools like Microsoft?s Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET), which is meant to fix bugs in Internet explorer, as well as strong anti-virus measures, timely virus scans and an efficient Internet use policy will go a long way toward preventing malware from infecting your computers. If you?re worried about the security of your computers and network, please give us a shout, we may have a solution for you.

WHO says only severely ill should be tested for new virus

LONDON (Reuters) - Doctors should only test people for a new virus if they are very ill in hospital with a respiratory infection, have been in Qatar or Saudi Arabia and test negative for common forms of pneumonia and infections, the World Health Organisation said on Saturday.

The newly discovered virus from the same family as SARS has so far been confirmed in only two cases worldwide, one in a 60-year-old Saudi man who died from his infections, and another in a man from Qatar who is critically ill in a London hospital.

In updated guidance issued six days after it put out a global alert about the new virus, the WHO said suspected cases should be strictly defined to limit the need to test people with milder symptoms.

But it added anyone who has been in direct contact with a confirmed case and who has any fever or respiratory symptoms should also be tested.

The WHO said in a statement its new case definition was designed "to ensure an appropriate and effective identification and investigation of patients who may be infected with the virus, without overburdening health care systems with unnecessary testing."

The United Nations health agency said on Sunday a new virus had infected a 49-year-old Qatari who had recently travelled to Saudi Arabia, where another man with an almost identical virus had died.

The virus is from a family called coronaviruses, which also includes viruses that cause the common cold and SARS, or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, which emerged in China in 2002 and killed around a tenth of the 8,000 people it infected worldwide.

INTENSIVE CARE

A spokeswoman for Britain's Health Protection Agency, where scientists analyzing samples from the Qatari man found a match with the fatal Saudi case last weekend and reported their finding to the WHO, said on Saturday the 49-year-old was still in intensive care.

He is being cared for at St Thomas's hospital, where he has been connected to an artificial lung to keep him alive.

The WHO says there is so far no evidence to suggest the potentially fatal virus spreads easily from person to person. Scientists say the genetic makeup of the virus suggests it may have come from animals, possibly bats.

The WHO has been collaborating with laboratories such as the HPA and another lab in the Netherlands which were responsible for the confirmation of new virus.

"These laboratories have been working on the development of diagnostic reagents and protocols which can be provided to laboratories that are not in a position to develop their own, and these are now available," it said.

But it stressed only patients who fulfilled strict criteria - including having severed respiratory syndrome, requiring hospitalization, having been in Qatar or Saudi Arabia or in contact with a suspected or confirmed case, and having already been tested for pneumonia.

"The essence is that this is not for people with coughs and colds," WHO spokesman Glenn Thomas told Reuters.

Six suspected cases in Denmark last week turned out to be false alarms and Thomas said it was important "to alleviate the burden of testing" by ensuring health authorities and members of the public understand the criteria for a suspected case. (Reporting by Kate Kelland; Editing by Sophie Hares)

[Video] 7-Minute Video Introducing the Galaxy Note II Shows All the Amazing Features you Get

It is innovation at its finest here folks. Little tid-bits of features that we have already seen about the Galaxy Note II already have our mouths watering. I will be honest, I did not really think the first Note was for me. I did not need a huge ?phablet? in my pocket, nor did I need all the features I had with it. But Samsung being Samsung, they have definitely up?d the game with the Note II. It just might end up at the top of my Christmas list this year.

Now I can go over all the features covered in the 7 and a half-minute video, but that would be the longest article I have ever written in my life. Word Press would probably explode in my face. That just tells you how many features you get with the Galaxy Note II. I almost think it is TOO many feature, but some would say there are never enough features that can come on a phone. So check out the video for yourself, and prepared to be mesmerized. Let us know what you guys think.

Fall calls bats to hibernate, scientists to study them

ScienceDaily (Sep. 28, 2012) ? Despite the vampire stories you may have read, bats are our friends. The little winged mammals eat more than their body weight in insects every night, making them extremely valuable to farmers, forest managers and anyone who doesn't like bugs. In fact, the dollar value of bats in pest control has been estimated at $508 million a year.

Bats are the only mammals that can fly. There are more than 1,000 species. In fact, 1 in 5 mammals is a bat.

And in the fall, bats often migrate hundreds of miles to abandoned mines and caves where they hibernate through the winter months. Deep in the caverns, they cuddle up in tight, furry clusters, while scientists study them, trying to figure out the hows and whys of a bat plague called White Nose Syndrome and what, if anything, can be done to prevent or stop it.

White Nose Syndrome has killed nearly 7 million bats since it first appeared in the US in New York State. The deadly fungal disease has spread to 19 states as far west as Missouri, as far south as Alabama and north into Canada.

Although White Nose Syndrome has not yet been seen in Michigan, where nine species of bats are heading for their winter homes -- mostly in 75 or 80 abandoned mines in the western Upper Peninsula. And there, a team of researchers led by Joseph Bump of Michigan Technological University and Alexis Sullivan, one of his graduate students, is using a novel chemical "fingerprinting" technique called stable hydrogen isotopes to determine where the hibernating bats originated.

Sullivan and Bump reported in the July 2012 issue of the journal Ecological Applications on their use of stable hydrogen isotopes to track the travels of the little brown bats that hibernate in three mines in the western UP.

Sullivan, who is first author on the paper, is now working on dual Master of Science degrees in Forest Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology at Michigan Tech and the Swedish University of Agricultural Science. She will receive degrees from both universities as part of the ATLANTIS Program, a transatlantic educational project jointly funded by the US Department of Education and the European Union.

Sullivan, Bump and colleagues Rolf Peterson and Laura Kruger studied the little brown bats that winter in the Quincy Mine in Hancock, Mich., the Caledonia Mine near Ontonagon, Mich., and the Norway Mine in Norway, Mich. They collected bat hair and tested it to identify the hydrogen fingerprint of the water where the bat grew the hair. Ecologists have developed maps of the distinctive hydrogen fingerprints of water from different locations, so the chemical fingerprints from the bat hair can be matched to the flying mammals' probable origins.

Up to now, stable hydrogen isotopes have been used mostly to track migratory birds. "Relatively little is known about bat-to-bat interactions or how far bats travel between seasonal habitats," Sullivan explains. Earlier attempts to use hydrogen isotopes with bats stalled because most hibernating bats don't make dramatic seasonal migrations, and they have unclear molt patterns, making it difficult to connect their hair to a given habitat, she adds.

In their latest study, Sullivan, Bump and colleagues were able to estimate with 95 percent certainty the summer origins of the tens of thousands of bats that hibernate in the Quincy Mine, the 23,000 bats in the Norway Mine and the estimated quarter of a million bats that call the Caledonia Mine their winter home. Using the hydrogen "fingerprints" from hair samples, they located the geographic areas from which the bats migrate -- some as far as 565 kilometers (351 miles) from their hibernation mine.

"This novel application of stable hydrogen isotopes can help predict which hibernation sites are likely to exchange bats," says Bump. Bat-to-bat contact is believed to be the way white-nose syndrome is spread, so understanding the bats' movements can help us know which hibernation sites are connected and how disease could potentially be transmitted among locations."

And why should anyone care what happens to these reclusive winged creatures that weigh less than half an ounce and average 3.4 inches long?

"First, they are amazing mammals. Second, we should care about little brown bats because they eat millions of things for which we care much less, like mosquitoes," says Bump.

Michigan Tech's bat research was funded by the National Park Service Great Lakes Network, the Ecosystems Science Center and the School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science at Michigan Tech.

Experts: Mayas prophesized, but not end of world

(AP) ? As the clock winds down to Dec. 21, experts on the Mayan calendar have been racing to convince people that the Mayas didn't predict an apocalypse for the end of this year.

Some experts are now saying the Mayas may indeed have made prophecies, just not about the end of the world.

Archaeologists, anthropologists and other experts met Friday in the southern Mexico city of Merida to discuss the implications of the Mayan Long Count calendar, which is made up of 394-year periods called baktuns.

Experts estimate the system starts counting at 3114 B.C., and will have run through 13 baktuns, or 5,125 years, around Dec. 21. Experts say 13 was a significant number for the Mayans, and the end of that cycle would be a milestone ? but not an end.

Fears that the calendar does point to the end have circulated in recent years. People in that camp believe the Maya may have been privy to impending astronomical disasters that would coincide with 2012, ranging from explosive storms on the surface of the sun that could knock out power grids to a galactic alignment that could trigger a reversal in Earth's magnetic field.

Mexican government archaeologist Alfredo Barrera said Friday that the Mayas did prophesize, but perhaps about more humdrum events like droughts or disease outbreaks.

"The Mayas did make prophecies, but not in a fatalistic sense, but rather about events that, in their cyclical conception of history, could be repeated in the future," said Barrera, of the National Institute of Anthropology and History.

Experts stressed that the ancient Mayas, whose "classic" culture of writing, astronomy and temple complexes flourished from A.D. 300 to 900, were extremely interested in future events, far beyond Dec. 21.

"There are many ancient Maya monuments that discuss events far into the future from now," wrote Geoffrey Braswell, an anthropologist at the University of California, San Diego. "The ancient Maya clearly believed things would happen far into the future from now."

"The king of Palenque, K'inich Hanaab Pakal, believed he would return to the Earth a couple of thousand years from now in the future," Braswell wrote in an email to The Associated Press. "Moreover, other monuments discuss events even before the creation in 3114 B.C."

Only a couple of references to the 2012 date equivalency have been found carved in stone at Mayan sites, and neither refers to an apocalypse, experts say.

Such apocalyptic visions have been common for more than 1,000 years in Western, Christian thinking, and are not native to Mayan thought.

"This is thinking that, in truth, has nothing to do with Mayan culture," said Alexander Voss, an anthropologist at the University Of Quintana Roo, a state on Mexico's Caribbean coast. "This thing about looking for end-times is not something that comes from Mayan culture."

Braswell compared the Mayan calendar, with its system of cycles within cycles, to the series of synchronized wheels contained in old, analogue car odometers.

"The Maya long count system is like a car odometer," Braswell wrote. "My first car (odometer) only had six wheels so it went up to 99,999.9 miles. That didn't mean the car would explode after reaching 100,000 miles."

Pedal-powered espresso cart a hit for java junkies

4 hrs.

An award-winning pedal-powered espresso cart is generating buzz as a fine way for eco-conscious java junkies to get their daily fix.

Amos Reid Field and Lasse Oiva, graduates of the Royal College of Art in London, describe the Velopresso as a ?celebratory fusion of human power, sensory pleasures and technology -- old tech with hi-tech, bicycles and coffee, their engineering and aesthetics.?

Pedals on the modified tricycle push the cart down the road and grind beans, meaning no whirring motors to startle caffeine-deprived heads.?

Water is currently heated up with a tiny gas canister, though the team is exploring the use of turning old coffee grounds into ethanol to power operations, according to Inhabit.?

When this eco-friendly machine will be brewing your double-tall, extra-hot latte is unknown, but given winning recognition for design in the 2012 Deutsche Bank for Creative Expression and second place in the 2012 Pininfarina Design Contest, it seems as if this espresso cart has momentum.

When Mikhail Gorbachev freed Andrei Sakharov to travel to the U.S., one of the Russian nuclear physicist's first stops was the New York Academy of Sciences. Members of the academy's Board of Governors at that time, in 1988, had been leaders in mobilizing the scientific community to fight for Sakharov's freedom, and Sakharov wanted to extend his thanks for all their efforts.

Moral issues with Pirating

Well I am currently faced with a moral dilemma i would like to hear opinions on.

I used to own legit copies of The elder scrolls Oblivion and Morrowind at one time however my Oblivion disk has since been worn out from over use to function any longer and my Morrowind discs are currently missing. My issue is that i am not in a great financial state at the moment and i also feel that i have already paid for the games so i can morally download them.

Morally I am against pirating (but i am no saint) but i feel that i am morally justified in downloading both games because i paid for them already. I will most likely buy the games again on steam where i can never loss them once i have the money for it because i like them so much but at the moment i do not have the money to start spending it on games like i did in the past. Its happened to me on multiple occasions that games i got did not work properly in which case i felt fully justified with downloading them however this issue which i had in the past is a bit more complicated.

An easy solution would be to get the games from a friend of mine but morally speaking whats the difference between doing that and downloading the games?

What do you think about this issue? What do you think about the pirating issue? I would first like to hear opinions on this dilemma as well as similar experiences but this discussion could also develop into one about the moral problems with pirating.

additional (i uninstalled both games so there is no option of cracking them... at some point i put too many mods on oblivion lol)

Samsung TouchWiz: Click with caution - News - Know Your Cell

If you're running Samsung's TouchWiz, take heed: The custom Android interface is vulnerable to a malicious bit of HTML that could wipe your entire device. And all it takes is the simple click of one dirty link.

There's no official word yet on exactly how many different devices could potentially be affected by it. But according to The Verge, so far it's been confirmed on both the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy S3 (it appears to only work on Samsung phones running TouchWiz).

The issue was brought to light last week during a security conference in Argentina, where researcher Ravi Borgaonkar explained how different codes can essentially send your Samsung phone back to factory reset. Check out the video below and stay tuned for an update.?

China likely to show leniency to ex-police chief

CHENGDU, China (AP) ? The sentencing of a former police chief who exposed a murder by a Chinese politician's wife is the latest sign that after months of divisive infighting, China's leadership is tying off a seamy political scandal to move ahead with a generational handover of power.

Wang Lijun is expected to be given a lenient sentence by the Intermediate People's Court in the central city of Chengdu on Monday. At his trial last week, Wang confessed to defecting, abusing his power and the other charges against him. The crimes are generally punishable by up to 10 years in prison with a 20-year maximum, though harsher sentences are possible.

Three times during his trial prosecutors said Wang deserved leniency for cooperating in uncovering the central element in the scandal ? the murder of a British businessman by the wife of Wang's former boss, once political high-flier Bo Xilai.

The scandal has been the messiest, most public one Communist Party leaders have had to confront in decades, triggering bruising internal jostling as the leadership prepares to transfer power to a younger generation. In the scandal's wake, Bo was removed from the leadership, his wife confessed to the murder, and relations among the leaders were strained. As a result, arrangements for a party congress to install the new leadership this fall were complicated.

After Wang's sentencing, the leadership is expected to announce long overdue dates for the congress and dispose of the scandal's stickiest issue ? whether merely to expel Bo from the party or hand him over for criminal prosecution. Pronouncing judgment on Bo will allow the new leaders to take charge without the scandal's overhang.

Wang's trial and conviction mark the spectacular downfall of a publicity-grabbing police official who rose to nationwide fame by leading a high-profile but law-bending crusade against organized crime in the inland city of Chongqing until he was cast out by Bo, the city's party chief. According to an official account of his trial, Wang had grown close to Bo's wife, Gu Kailai, and after she confessed to murdering Briton Neil Heywood, Wang covered it up until his estrangement from her, and later Bo, drove him to flee to the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu, fearing for his life.

"When mafia members break up with their bosses, they can attempt to seek police protection. But in Chongqing and for the former police boss, there was nowhere to turn," prominent editor Hu Shuli wrote in a commentary posted on the website of her magazine, Caixin. "And this perhaps encapsulates one of the greatest embarrassments of the country's current legal system."

The official account of Wang's trial, carried by the government-run Xinhua News Agency, portrays Wang as unbound by the law. It says that he ordered surveillance of people without authorization and took bribes from businessmen connected to Bo in exchange for releasing suspects from police detention.

While he first told Gu he would hide evidence and cover up her crime last November, the account said he secretly recorded her confession to poisoning Heywood, a business associate whom she said had threatened her son's safety in a dispute over money.

After his falling out with Gu and Bo, Wang ordered subordinates to gather up the evidence and in February fled to the U.S. Consulate, where he applied for political asylum, though he later surrendered to Chinese authorities. Gu was convicted of the murder last month and given a suspended death sentence.

Xinhua has portrayed Wang as being contrite. "I acknowledge and confess the guilt accused by the prosecuting body and show my repentance," Wang was quoted as saying in court last week. "For the Party organizations, people and relatives that have cared for me, I want to say here, sincerely: I'm very, very sorry, I've let you down."

As for Bo, who was dismissed as party boss of Chongqing in March and stripped of his position among the Communist Party elite, last week was the first time the authorities implicated him in a crime. Though the account does not name him, it says Wang told the city's top party official about Gu's role in Heywood's murder, only to be slapped for it. The implicit reference suggests authorities are preparing to prosecute him on criminal charges, removing for good a politician whose populist style grated on his fellow leaders.

Ding Xueliang, a China expert at Hong Kong's University of Science and Technology, said those in the party leadership who wanted Bo out might push to reward Wang for exposing the corrupt and lawless inner workings of Bo's administration.

"Despite the many terrible things that Wang Lijun did before, he, in my view, contributed enormously to the legitimacy of the Communist government," Ding said. "This kind of local emperor style of Bo Xilai, it is a cancer of the system, and Wang Lijun helped the top leadership to deal with the fundamental disease before it's too late."

Great Internet Marketing Tips From The Pros! | Eric Chua : Life ...

If you want a successful business, you need to utilize Internet marketing to connect with any potential customers who are online. This article has helpful information to help you become a success through Internet marketing. You will learn what it takes to succeed at Internet marketing.

Keep your content updated. If someone visits your site and the information is outdated, they may assume that the company is not doing well and that it is a waste of time for them to contact you. A well-received and current site is one which will attract more people.

Comments are an excellent resource, even from non-buyers. Adding a form to fill at the bottom of ad copy will allow these visitors to explain why a purchase was not made. There are many reasons people choose not to purchase a product.

TIP! If you are good at writing, write an article about your business and submit it to magazines that accept submissions. Make sure you include your business information and website information in your articles.

Create a website that has informative content and is easy to navigate. Your goal should be to teach your potential customers exactly what you are selling so they understand what and why they should want to purchase your product. Repeat information, fluff and unreliable information should be avoided.

Make effective use of email in your business. When you send emails to your customers, make it newsletter style and interesting. You want your customers to be excited to receive your emails. Your subscribers want to feel like you?re sharing valuable information with them, not spam. Newsletters are a great way to keep people interested even after they?re gone from your site, and make them want to come back.

Video marketing is an excellent way to get the word out about your business and really get noticed. Use keywords in the descriptions and captions to increase the visibility of your website. An interesting title and a unique picture will grab the attention of potential clients and possibly produce sales.

TIP! Think about your customers when making your site and promoting it. Ask yourself if it is easy to navigate.

You can build a client list by using a squeeze page. Its purpose is to solicit email addresses from potential customers. You may even want to offer a freebie or special offer when a visitor shares their email address. People are more inclined to do something for you if you do something for them.

Most cell phone companies can help you set up a ?dedicated business phone number,? which allows your customers to call you on your current device. Get a number specifically for your business.

Present limited time offers. Free shipping or giveaways can increase the traffic that comes onto your page. Make sure that you highlight the end date of the offer to create a feeling of urgency.

TIP! Consider making proposals to other web-based businesses on ways to combine products and offer special deals to your customers. This allows you to link together multiple markets, so that you increase your sales numbers.

Most often you will be advised not to mix business with your home life, but this may qualify as an exception. Because you are in it together, this venture does not create the same stress you feel when you owe someone else money. You should include your spouse in this activity, too.

Create social networks on Facebook or Twitter to target a market. Be careful not to spam people, however, as MySpace has cracked down on such actions, occasionally suing spammers for online harassment.

Most product and service communications can benefit by the use of descriptive terms and phrases that will deliver gratification instantly or near-instant. Your advertisement should emphasize how quickly orders get processed, how fast orders will be shipped and delivered, and the speed at which buyers will obtain results from their purchase. This can be illustrated as speedy downloads, fast and secure purchasing process or even quick confirmations of orders placed online.

TIP! Integrate social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter into your Internet marketing efforts. They help you keep in touch with customers and provide an easy way to advertise.

Make sure the vocabulary you use in your Internet marketing campaign is easy for customers to understand. If you use familiar vocabulary, people will be more likely to reach out to you and feel comfortable about it. Proper word usage goes a long way in representing your business.

Presenting visitors to your website with the option to subscribe to your ezine is an effective marketing technique that can help you build your customer base, particularly if you develop your ezine in a way that helps you establish a bond with your readers. Add family pictures of you to inject personality. Don?t be afraid to share funny or interesting stories from your personal life with your readers. Keep the reader curious by having an eye catching subject line that will grab their attention.

You must use a well-built website on the Internet to increase the visibility of your business. When traditional advertising doesn?t give the needed exposure to your product, marketing on the Internet is a life saver. Use what you?ve just learned, and plan the Internet marketing strategy that meets your needs

TIP! Making sure that your site contains a lot of original and exciting content is one of the best ways to ultimately climb up through the rankings system. This is true for any online retailer that sells similar products with similar product descriptions.

Doping now a 'public health issue' says WHO doctor | FYI BeHealthy

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) ? The use of performance-enhancing drugs is now a public health matter rather than simply a sporting problem, delegates said at a top anti-doping conference.

?If we believe that around three percent of high school boys in the U.S. are taking a steroid or growth hormone, then that?s a public health issue,? said Dr.?Timothy Armstrong?of the?World Health Organisation?(WHO).

?Substance abuse in any shape or form has a physical and mental health aspect to it. The WHO, being the lead UN (United Nations) agency on health matters, takes this issue quite seriously.?

Armstrong was speaking at the conference organized by the?Arne Ljungqvist Foundation, named after the Swedish anti-doping official who is also chairman of the?International Olympic Committee?(IOC) medical commission.

Ljungqvist, who invited the likes of the WHO and World-Anti-Doping Agency to the meeting, shared Armstrong?s opinion.

?This is a first attempt to highlight this matter as a public health issue, which in my view it is,? he said at a press briefing.

?Elite sport plays an obvious role. They are the role models of youngsters and if they are drug takers, that is not the right role model for the coming society.

?I am so happy today to see these international authorities coming together and sharing these concerns that are being expressed and I hope that we can find common ways to deal with them,? he added.

WADA Director General?David Howman?told the briefing that what happens in elite sport has an effect on wider society and that the sharing of information was crucial to tackling the problem of doping.

?What we have learned in the last 10 years is that there is a trickle-down effect into recreational sports and into the high schools,? said Howman, adding that health and law enforcement authorities had their part to play.

?In?Australia?now, the customs people share their information with the?Australian Sports Anti-Doping Agency?(ASADA), and already 40 percent of their anti-doping rule violations come from that sort of information.

?That?s a very good example of how it can work when people work together.?

Howman said a similar effort prior to July and Augusts? London Olympics had led to ?several cases? of doping being discovered.

?The?UK Anti-Doping Agency?had a similar arrangement with customs and police and they were able to give information to the IOC. The anti-doping program that was run during the Games was based on that intelligence.

?My understanding is that it led to several cases that were discovered in the out-of-competition phase.?

Dr. Armstrong agreed that such co-operation was essential for dealing with doping, adding that more data was needed to assess the scale of the problem.

?Each of our organizations has a piece of the pie and can only work in the areas where we have a mandate to work. But we can join with our sister agencies such as UNESCO and other potential partners such as WADA and the IOC.

?We all require better data to inform prevalence ? how many people are taking what substances and the adverse social and health effects as a consequence of that.?

Microsoft resurrects Courier through Project Austin app for Windows 8, sparks nostalgia video

Many who've been following Microsoft's tablet efforts for years will have a soft spot for the Courier, a creative-focused device axed because it didn't fit the Windows puzzle. However, it looks like you just can't keep a clever idea down. Developers at Microsoft have revived the dream through Project Austin, a Windows 8 app based around the visual concept of a notebook. Pen aficionados can choose different paper types and paste in photos, but they're deliberately kept away from typing, searching and other elements that would complicate the idea. It should sound familiar: it's a rough (if possibly unintentional) Windows doppelganger to FiftyThree's Paper for iPad, which itself was designed by some of the former Courier team. A company spokesperson won't say if or when Project Austin will be available in a complete form for the public, although there's not much point until Windows 8 arrives on October 26th. Thankfully, programmers keen to see what Courier might have been -- if just in bits and pieces -- can already download the source code for themselves.

Washington Nationals' Davey Johnson On 20-Game Winner Gio Gonzalez.

WASHINGTON, DC - SEPTEMBER 22: Gio Gonzalez #47 of the Washington Nationals waves to the crowd after earning his 20th win of the season as the Washington Nationals defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 10-4 at Nationals Park on September 22, 2012 in Washington, DC. (Photo by Patrick McDermott/Getty Images)

With a seven inning outing against the Milwaukee Brewers today in which he gave up three hits, a walk and two runs, both unearned, 27-year-old Washington Nationals' lefty Gio Gonzalez earned his 20th win of 2012, becoming the first pitcher in the majors to do so this season. Gonzalez, in his first year in the nation's capital with the Nats following the trade this past December with the Oakland A's, became the first D.C.-based pitcher to win 20 games since Washington Senators' right-hander Bob Porterfield did it in 1953 and he became the first left-hander from the nation's capital to win 20 since the Sens' Earl Whitehill won 22 in 1933, during the last season in which a team from D.C. made it to the postseason before this year.

Asked about the contributions Gonzalez has made to the team in his first season with Washington, Nats' skipper Davey Johnson told reporters after the game that the left-hander had exceeded his expectations. "He's surpassed mine," Johnson said. "Mike Rizzo and I knew that [in order] to give up what we gave out [to acquire him], we knew [Gio was] special," the Nationals' manager continued, "And in every form he's special. His personality. His competitiveness. He has fun."

The Nationals' 69-year-old manager said after Saturday's game that winning 20 games like Gonzalez did, "Is always huge. Pitching is the main thing in baseball, when you win 20, that's the mark of a Cy Young... it's just everything. It's bigger than a hitter, for me, hitting .300. He's had just a phenomenal year. That was a typical Gio game. Low pitch count, low hits."

Star-divide

After the win Saturday, Gonzalez is (20-8) on the year with a 2.84 ERA, 2.84 FIP, 73 walks (3.40 BB/9) and 201 Ks (9.36 K/9) in 31 starts and 193.1 IP. When a reporter asked Gonzalez's manager if the left-hander has done enough to earn consideration for the Cy Young Award this season, Johnson stated cleary that there was no doubt in his mind that the pitcher deserved the award. "Hands down," the Nationals' manager said.

Gio's still learning too, in his fourth full season (fifth overall). "Young pitchers learn," Johnson said, "They learn about themselves and their stuff and it takes a while to go through that. And this is an experience too, being in a pennant race and that's how he responded." Strong as he was on the mound against Brewers, the Nats' manager joked, he started the day with a bullpen session in which he didn't feel entirely comfortable. "I asked [Pitching Coach Steve McCatty], 'How's he feeling, how many do we need to score?" Johnson told reporters, "And he said, 'He had an awful pen, so that means we probably need one.' I worry more about when they have a great pen. And [Gonzalez] said he felt like 'Heck.' That's what [Jim] Palmer used to say all the time, 'Get me a bunch, I don't have nothing,' and he'd throw a shutout."

"We always worried whenever [Palmer] came in from the pen and said, 'Man I feel great,' and I said, 'Oh, no, we'd better score a bunch.'"

Davey Johnson was then asked if he thought Gio Gonzalez belonged in the conversation as one of best pitchers in the game right now along with some of the other recent 20-game winners, and again the manager said there was no doubt. "No question about it," Johnson said, "No question about it. My thing is hits-per-inning," Johnson said, "That tells you what kind of pitcher and stuff he has. His are phenomenal. I don't think I've ever had somebody who has that few hits per inning."

On the year, Gio Gonzalez has allowed an average of 6.76 H/9, the lowest total amongst all MLB starters, ahead of the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw (6.84 H/9) and the Angels' Jered Weaver (6.97 H/9).

Does Gio Gonzalez deserve the Cy Young Award? We'll see when the final numbers are in... but the Nats' left-hander is certainly in the conversation. After today's win, he's the first 20-game winner from Washington in 59 years. Can he become the first Cy Young Award winner in D.C. baseball history?

One ?way ?we ?do ?this ?is ?by ?having ?sex ?before ?we ?are ?truly ? ready. ? ?And, ?yes, ?I ?realize ?that ?we?re ?all ?adults, ?so ?biologically ? speaking, ?we ?don?t ?need ?permission ?from ?anybody ?to ?do ??the ? do.? ? ?I?m ?talking ?about ?the ?check ?in ?the ?gut ?that ?lets ?us ?know ? that ?we ?may ?not ?be ?adequately ?prepared ?emotionally, ? mentally ?and ?spiritually ?to ?let ?someone ?physically ?enter ?our ? bodies.

Some ?of ?us ?will ?say ?we ?do ?it ?because ?it?s ?fun, ?we?re ? stressed, ?and/or ?sex ?is ?a ?great ?release. ? ?And, ?it?s ?true. ? ?Sex ?can ? be ?all ?of ?these ?things. ? ?There ?are ?also ?others ?of ?us, ?however, ? who?ll ?be ?the ?first ?to ?admit ?that ?we ?often ?do ??the ?do? ?because ? we ?are ?keenly ?aware ?of ?the ?adage ?that ?if ?he?s ?not ?getting ?it ? from ?us, ?he?s ?going ?to ?get ?it ?from ?somewhere ?else.

Truthfully, ?he ?may. ?But, ?he ?also ?may ?be ?getting ?it ?from ? somewhere ?else ?and ?you, ?simultaneously. ? ?So, ?your ?giving ?it ? up ?before ?you ?are ?really ?ready ?to ?isn?t ?helping ?your ?intent ?of ? stopping ?him. ? ?However, ?it ?might ?prevent ?him ?from ?getting ?to ? know ?the ?real ?you, ?and ?not ?the ?one ?so ?obsessed ?by ?fear ?and ? lack, ?that ?you ?become ??crazy ?chick? ?and ?go ?off ?on ?him ?when ? the ?relationship ?is ?not ?progressing ?in ?the ?way ?or ?as ?rapidly ?as ? you?d ?like.

Granted, ?there ?are ?a ?few ?of ?us ?who ?only ?want ?a ?good ? time. ? ?But, ?most ?of ?us ?want ?more.
If ?you ?are ?one ?of ?the ?ones ?who ?want ?more, ?beware ?of ? sacrificing ?your ?self-???respect ?to ?get ?a ?piece ?of ?a ?man, ?because ?if ? you ?do, ?you ?will ?probably ?get ?just ?that ?? ?a ?piece ?of ?a ?man. ? Then, ?you ?will ?have ?to ?be ?weary ?of ?complaining ?and ?blame ?the ? male, ?though, ?truthfully, ?he ?never ?even ?claimed ?to ?be ?a ?man. ? ? You ?may ?also ?be ?forced ?to ?admit, ?after ?much ?pain ?and ? heartache, ?that ?you ?didn?t ?really ?take ?the ?time ?to ?see ?if ?you ? really ?wanted ?him; ?you ?merely ?wanted ?someone.

Case ?in ?point: ?a ?friend ?of ?mine ?recently ?had ?dinner ?with ? a ?single ?doctor ?who ?relocated ?to ?Atlanta. ? ?Noting ?the ? supposedly ?high ?proportion ?of ?single ?women ?to ?men, ? rumored ?to ?be ?around ?20:1, ?but ?statistically ?reported ?as ?2:1, ? she ?asked ?him ?about ?his ?dating ?life. ?Surprisingly, ?he ?shared ? that ?he ?wasn?t ?dating ?that ?much. ? ?He ?was, ?however, ?having ?a ? great ?deal ?of ?sex. ??I ?don?t ?even ?have ?to ?ask ?a ?woman ?out,? ?he ? said. ? ??Most ?come ?up ?to ?me. ? ?If ?we ?do ?go ?out, ?they ?pay ?for ?it ?or ? go ?Dutch ?before ?I ?pull ?out ?my ?wallet.?

Most ?of ?the ?women ?don?t ?expect ?a ?second, ?let ?alone, ?a ? third ?date. ? ?They ?offer ?themselves ?up ?for ?a ?good ?time ?and ?he ? readily ?accepts. ? ?What ?shocked ?him ?most, ?however, ?was ?the ? Atlanta ?strip ?clubs. ? ??There ?are ?a ?lot ?more ?women ?in ?there ? than ?I ?expected,? ?he ?said. ? ?Instead ?of ?men ?having ?to ?go ?find ? women, ?the ?women ?go ?where ?the ?guys ?are. ?Even ?more ? alarming, ?for ?him, ?was ?that ?when ?the ?men ?didn?t ?pay ?quick ? enough ?attention, ?these ?women ?started ?paying ?to ?receive ?lap ? dances ?from ?the ?strippers ?to ?up ?the ?ante. ?In ?turn, ?they ?may ? have ?been ?successful ?with ?him ?and ?other ?men ?for ?that ?night, ? but ?nothing ?long-???term. ?Interesting ?enough, ?this ?confirmed ? bachelor ?also ?shared ?that ?he ?wasn?t ?opposed ?to ?settling ?down. ? ? Unfortunately, ?he ?had ?yet ?to ?encounter ?a ?woman ?who ?inspired ? him ?to ?desire ?a ?more ?substantial ?connection.

Thankfully, ?not ?all ?women ?are ?like ?this. ? ?Even ?so, ?we ? cannot ?let ?the ?inmates ?run ?the ?asylum. ? ?I ?don?t ?care ?how ?slim ? the ?pickings ?may ?look. ? ?We ?have ?way ?more ?power ?in ?this ? dating ?game ?than ?we ?are ?giving ?ourselves ?credit ?for.

Consider, ?for ?example, ?how ?much ?men ?have ?done ? historically ?for ?women ?they ?treasure. ? ?Both ?Caesar ?and ?Mark ? Antony, ?for ?instance, ?sacrificed ?their ?power ?as ?heads ?of ?the ? Roman ?state ?(the ?reigning ?world ?power ?at ?that ?time) ?for ? Cleopatra?s ?attention ?and ?favor. ? ?In ?addition, ?there?s ?hardly ?a ? movie, ?myth ?or ?fable ?that ?does ?not ?contain ?some ?element ?of ?a ? man ?sacrificing ?his ?all ?to ?win ?the ?heart ?of ?a ?woman. ? ?Heck, ?are ? you ?aware ?that ?even ?the ?Bible ?records ?(in ?Genesis ?6: ?1 ?? ?2) ?that ? we ?as ?women ?are ?so ?desirable ?that ?angels ?sacrificed ?their ? immortality ?to ?marry ?and ?have ?children ?with ?us?!

We ?are ?powerful, ?Ladies. ? ?Let?s ?own ?it. ? ?Stop ?letting ?the ? terms ?of ?dating ?in ?the ?21st ?Century ?be ?driven ?by ?our ?fears ?of ? scarcity ?and ?lack. ? ?Take ?the ?time ?to ?really ?see ?yourself ?through ? the ?total ?lens ?and ?not ?the ?current ?state ?of ?dating. ? ?If ?you?re ? willing ?to ?slow ?down, ?and ?draw ?further ?into ?yourself, ?you ? may ?really ?understand ?all ?you ?have ?to ?offer ?to ?the ?world. ? ? Taking ?a ?sex-???free ?sabbatical, ?for ?whatever ?duration ?you ? decide, ?may ?allow ?you ?to ?upgrade ?to ?a ?renewed, ?recharged, ? more ?loving, ?beautiful, ?and ?alluring ?you. ? ?In ?case ?you?re ? circling ?the ?field, ?but ?still ?find ?yourself ?on ?the ?fence, ?consider ? the ?following ?for ?being ?sex ?free:

When ?we ?have ?sex, ?we ?are ?physically ?allowing ?another ? being ?to ?penetrate ?our ?core. ? ?Unlike ?our ?heterosexual ? counterparts, ?whose ?sexual ?organ ?is ?external, ?ours ?is ?located ? inside ?of ?us. ? ?Hence, ?when ?we ?let ?someone ?within, ?we ?let ?that ? person ?enter ?the ?center ?of ?our ?being. ?We ?take ?in ?his ?physical, ? as ?well ?as ?spiritual, ?emotional ?and ?mental ?energy. ? ?If ?he?s ?not ? right ?in ?any ?way, ?it ?can ?affects ?us ?for ?hours, ?days, ?months, ?or ? even ?longer. ? ?We ?may ?feel ?slightly ?off ?? ?sad, ?agitated, ?and/or ? even ?angry ?and ?not ?know ?why. ? ?This ?is ?because ?we?ve ?let ? another ?human ?being ?deposit ?his ?energy ?and ?any ?other ? person?s ?energy ?he?s ?slept ?(or ?may ?simultaneously ?be ? sleeping) ?with ?inside ?of ?us. ? ?If ?we ?are ?not ?aware ?of ?this, ?we ? may ?blame ?ourselves ?for ?feeling ?crappy ?without ?an ?idea ?of ? how ?to ?fix ?it.

If ?you ?take ?the ?time ?to ?invest ?in ?yourself, ?you?ll ?be ?in ?a ? much ?better ?position ?to ?know ?what?s ?your ??stuff? ?versus ? someone ?else?s. ?You?ll ?also ?have ?a ?better ?idea ?of ?consciously ? understanding ?what ?types ?of ?deposits ?a ?potential ?paramour ?is ? bringing ?to ?you ?and ?decide ?whether ?or ?not ?you ?want ?to ? receive ?them.

And, ?as ?you ?become ?more ?conscious ?of ?what ?energy ? may ?belong ?to ?you ?and ?what ?may ?belong ?to ?someone ?else, ? you?ll ?be ?able ?to ?focus ?in ?ways ?you ?choose, ?and ?not ?potentially ? have ?it ?dissipated ?by ?trying ?to ?sort ?through ?energy ?that ? doesn?t ?belong ?to ?you. ? ?This ?will ?enable ?you ?to ?have ?laser ? beam ?focus. ? ?Whereas ?a ?light ?bulb ?emanates ?light ?in ?a ?general ? way, ?a ?laser ?beam ?emits ?rays ?that ?are ?focused, ?direct ?and ? incredibly ?powerful. ? ?Imagine ?what ?you ?can ?accomplish ?with ? that ?type ?of ?dynamism!

If ?you ?had ?any ?extra-???time, ?what ?would ?you ?like ?to ? accomplish? ?I ?mean ?an ?achievement ?that ?almost ?makes ?you ? giddy ?with ?excitement ?by ?simply ?thinking ?about ?it. ?Is ?it ?career ? related? ? ?Educationally-???inspired? ? ?Or, ?does ?it ?bring ?out ?your ? daredevil ?qualities? ? ?Like ?skydiving, ?perhaps? ?Or ?maybe ?your ? aspiration ?is ?a ?personal ?goal, ?like ?running ?a ?marathon, ? finishing ?a ?triathlon ?or ?at ?least ?starting ?with ?a ?5K ?walk/race?

Do ?you ?even ?know? ? ?If ?not, ?no ?worries. ? ?This ?is ?what ?a ? sex-???free ?hiatus ?is ?for.

As ?women, ?we ?spend ?an ?enormous ?amount ?of ?time ? being ?caregivers ?for ?everyone ?else. ? ?And, ?while ?it?s ?certainly ? great ?to ?be ?there ?for ?others, ?it?s ?hard ?to ?consistently ?show ?up ? and ?meet ?someone ?else?s ?needs ?when ?we ?don?t ?even ?attend ?to ? our ?own. ?It?s ?very ?similar ?to ?the ?instructions ?flight ?attendants ? give ?before ?we ?take ?off ?on ?airplane ?flights. ? ?In ?the ?event ?of ?an ? emergency, ?the ?first ?thing ?we ?are ?encouraged ?to ?do ?is ?put ?on ? our ?own ?oxygen ?masks ?before ?we ?try ?and ?assist ?anyone ?else. ? ? This ?is ?because ?we ?can?t ?aid ?another ?before ?we ?help ?ourselves.

When ?I ?was ?a ?child, ?my ?dad ?bought ?me ?a ?book ?entitled ? How ?to ?Be ?Your ?Own ?Best ?Friend ?during ?one ?of ?our ?weekly ? father-???daughter ?dates. ? ?I ?was ?around ?eleven ?at ?the ?time, ?so ?I ? had ?no ?idea ?what ?the ?concept, ?perfectly ?summed ?up ?in ?the ? title, ?meant. ?Admittedly, ?I ?also ?thought ?the ?title, ?and ?hence ? concept, ?sounded ?stupid ?as ?most ?adolescent ?girls, ?including ? myself, ?relish ?fitting ?in. ? ?Yet, ?each ?year ?I ?am ?reminded ?how ? invaluable ?it ?is ?to ?treat, ?encourage, ?and ?love ?myself ?as ?deeply ? and ?kindly ?as ?I ?would ?my ?own ?best ?friend.

Becoming ?your ?own ?best ?friend ?is ?perhaps ?one ?of ?the ? best ?ways ?to ?become ?a ?better ?you ?because ?it ?can ?allow ?you ?to ? put ?yourself ?and ?your ?needs ?first ?without ?feeling ?as ?if ?you ?are ? being ?selfish. ?You ?are ?also ?training ?others ?how ?to ?treat ?you. ? ?If ? you ?don?t ?take ?time ?to ?complete ?a ?goal ?and/or ?honor ?a ? personal ?desire ?or ?wish, ?others ?will ?feel ?that ?it?s ?okay ?for ?them ? to ?ignore ?things ?that ?are ?important ?to ?you ?as ?well. ? ?They ?won?t ? pay ?extra ?special ?attention ?to ?the ?things ?that ?matter ?to ?you, ?nor ? will ?they ?feel ?obliged ?to ?do ?so.

But, ?if ?you ?honor ?yourself ?by ?protecting, ?pursuing, ?and ? ultimately ?fulfilling ?those ?things ?that ?are ?special ?to ?you, ?then ? everyone ?else ?who ?enters ?your ?life ?already ?has ?a ?working ? blueprint ?for ?interacting ?with ?you.

Taking ?the ?concept ?one ?step ?further, ?without ?becoming ? a ?better ?you, ?it ?may ?become ?impossible ?to ?get ?the ?best ?life ?has ? to ?offer. ? ?You ?may ?amass ?many ?things ?and ?become ?materially ? very ?successful, ?but ?you ?may ?also ?be ?plagued ?with ?a ?deep ? emotional ?void ?and ?emptiness ?you?re ?not ?able ?to ?understand. ? ? This ?may ?result ?because ?you?ve ?done ?everything ?that ??should? ? make ?you ?happy, ?but ?you ?haven?t ?done ?the ?work ?to ?really ? locate ?what ?brings ?you ?pure, ?unadulterated ?joy.

For ?example, ?there ?are ?several ?popular ?relationship-??? improvement ?books, ?written ?by ?men, ?which ?tell ?women ?how ? men ?think. ? ?And, ?while ?it?s ?great ?to ?have ?as ?many ?weapons ?in ? your ?armor ?to ?succeed ?in ?matters ?of ?the ?heart, ?it?s ?at ?least ? equally ?important ?to ?know ?what ?it ?is ?that ?you ?want ?before ?you ? figure ?out ?how ?to ?think ?like ?a ?man ?or ?realize ?that ?he?s ?just ?not ? that ?into ?you. ? ?Because, ?guess ?what? ? ?After ?a ?little ?soul ? searching ?during ?this ??hiatus ?for ?self? ?time, ?you ?may ?realize ? that ?you ?were ?never ?into ?him ?either.

Since ?adolescence, ?most, ?if ?not ?all ?of ?us, ?have ?been ? warned ?of ?the ?life ?altering ?risks ?of ?an ?unplanned ?pregnancy ? and ?harmful, ?sometimes ?fatal, ?results ?of ?contracting ?a ?sexually ? transmitted ?infection.

Hence, ?it?s ?a ?no-???brainer ?that ?the ?only way ?to ?prevent ?herpes, ?gonorrhea, ?HIV, ?and ?the ?like ?is ?to ? abstain. ? ?Most ?of ?us ?are ?also ?very ?well ?educated ?that ?a ?second ? option ?is ?safer ?sex ?where ?we ?use ?condoms. ? ?Less ?known, ? however, ?are ?the ?rising ?reports ?over ?the ?last ?decade ?about ?the ? growing ?risk ?of ?cancer, ?especially ?cervical ?and ?oral, ?associated ? with ?sex, ?that ?even ?condoms ?cannot ?prevent.

The ?human ?papillomavirus ?or ?HPV ?is ?a ?sexually ? transmitted ?infection ?that ?both ?men ?and ?women ?can ?get. ?It ?is ? spread ?via ?skin-???to-???skin ?contact ?and ?not ?by ?bodily ?fluids. ? ? Hence, ?condom ?use ?cannot ?stop ?the ?spread ?of ?this ?disease.

According ?to ?a ?2011 ?Centers ?for ?Disease ?Control ?(CDC) ? report, ?approximately ?20 ?million ?Americans ?currently ?have ? HPV, ?with ?six ?million ?new ?infections ?being ?discovered ?each ? year.5 ? ?Additionally, ?nearly ?80% ?of ?all ?sexually ?active ?women ? will ?contract ?HPV ?at ?some ?point ?in ?their ?lives. ?HPV ?can ?also ?lie ? dormant ?for ?many ?years, ?making ?it ?incredibly ?difficult, ?for ? some, ?to ?know ?who ?gave ?it ?to ?them. ?And, ?very ?often, ?men ?and ? women, ?alike, ?are ?unaware ?that ?they ?have ?it ?because ?not ? everyone ?who?s ?infected ?has ?symptoms. ? ?Routine ?pap ?smears, ? which ?check ?for ?changes ?in ?cells ?on ?the ?cervix, ?are ?used ?to ? detect ?the ?disease ?in ?women. ? ?Unfortunately, ?there ?are ?no ? current ?detection ?methods ?for ?men. ? ?In ?addition, ?an ?increasing ? amount ?of ?dentists ?are ?beginning ?to ?routinely ?screen ?patients ? from ?oral ?sexual ?encounters ?during ?dental ?checkups.

5 ?Centers ?for ?Disease ?Control ?(CDC). ??Genital ?HPV ?Infection ?? ?Fact ?Sheet.? ? 2011.
When ?symptoms ?do ?exist, ?they ?can ?take ?the ?form ?of ? warts ?on ?the ?genital ?area ?or ?lesions, ?bumps ?and ?skin ? discoloration ?in ?the ?throat, ?tongue ?or ?other ?areas ?within ?the ? mouth.

Most ?of ?the ?time, ?thankfully, ?the ?disease ?disappears ?by ? itself ?(i.e.: ?without ?any ?medical ?treatment) ?within ?two ?years. ? ? But, ?in ?those ?instances ?when ?it ?doesn?t, ?HPV ?is ?the ?primary ? cause ?in ?all ?cases ?of ?cervical ?cancer ?for ?woman ?and ?now ? accounts ?for ?nearly ?25% ?of ?all ?oral ?cancers.

Who ?would?ve ?thought ?that ?cancer ?would ?be ?the ?latest ? in ?a ?long ?string ?of ?health ?risks ?associated ?with ?sex? ? ?It?s ? absolutely ?incredible. ?So, ?as ?you ?weigh ?your ?options ?for ?each ? possible ?sexual ?liaison, ?ask ?yourself, ??Are ?the ?risks ?worth ?it ?to ? have ?sex ?with ?this ?person ?right ?now?? ? ??Is ?he/she ?worth ?my ? life ?and/or ?quality ?of ?living??

Your ?answers ?to ?these ?questions ?may ?provide ?much ? needed ?insight ?into ?your ?feelings ?for ?your ?prospective ?partner ? and ?the ?long-???term ?possibilities ?for ?the ?relationship. ?They ?may ? also ?shed ?light ?on ?where ?you ?are ?mentally ?and ?emotionally, ? which ?can ?be ?another ?reason ?to ?embark ?on ?a ?sex-???free ?hiatus.

In ?addition ?to ?increased ?physical ?health, ?becoming ?sex ? free ?can ?significantly ?contribute ?to ?increased ?mental ?and ? emotional ?health. ? ?Mental ?health ?can ?be ?defined ?as ?one?s ?level ? of ?thinking, ?feeling ?and ?relating ?to ?others. ? ?A ?person ?suffering ? attacks ?to ?his/her ?mental ?health ?may ?experience ?depression, ? anxiety, ?and ?substance-???abuse ?addiction, ?which ?may ?naturally affect ?her ?level ?of ?interaction ?with ?others. ? ?The ?quality ?of ?one?s ? emotional ?health, ?which ?includes ?moods ?and ?the ?way ?an ? individual ?reactions ?to ?situations, ?also ?has ?a ?significant ?impact ? on ?how ?one ?deals ?with ?others. ? ?For ?example, ?if ?a ?person ?has ? unresolved ?anger ?issues ?towards ?someone ?in ?her ?past, ?these ? issues ?may ?manifest ?unexpectedly, ?at ?the ?most ?inappropriate ? time, ?threatening ?a ?current ?or ?future ?relationship.

In ?truth, ?all ?of ?us ?have ?experienced ?hurt ?and ? disappointment. ? ?So, ?it?s ?not ?a ?question ?of ?whether ?or ?not ?we ? ever ?have ?a ?mental ?or ?emotional ?attack, ?it?s ?a ?question ?about ? what ?we ?do ?when ?it ?happens.
Much ?like ?rest ?allows ?the ?physical ?body ?to ?recover ? when ?it?s ?attacked ?by ?an ?ailment, ?a ?relationship ?respite, ?every ? now ?and ?again, ?can ?help ?us ?recover ?from ?wounding ? experiences. ? ?To ?illustrate, ?think ?about ?what ?happens ?when ?we ? experience ?symptoms ?signaling ?the ?beginning ?of ?a ?cold. ? ?If ?we ? immediately ?up ?our ?intake ?of ?vitamin ?C ?and ?zinc ?tabs, ?drink ? more ?liquids ?and ?rest, ?we ?diminish ?the ?length ?and ?severity ?of ? the ?cold. ?We ?also ?reduce ?the ?opportunity ?for ?us ?to ?infect ? others. ?But, ?if ?we ?don?t ?take ?heed, ?or, ?even ?worse, ?do ?the ? opposite ?by ?continuing ?to ?eat ?poorly ?and ?not ?getting ?enough ? sleep, ?we ?are ?not ?only ?heading ?for ?a ?temporary ?shut ?down, ? where ?we ?can?t ?get ?out ?of ?bed ?and/or ?move ?because ?our ? system ?is ?wore ?down, ?we ?can ?also ?make ?others ?sick ?in ?the ? process.

The ?same ?is ?true ?for ?our ?emotional ?health. ? ?When ?you ? are ?hurting, ?it?s ?best ?to ?stop, ?rest ?and ?reflect, ?so ?that ?you ?can become ?renewed, ?refreshed ?and ?ready ?for ?whatever ?comes ? next.

Monique Matthews, who has a background in entertainment journalism, once served as a managing editor for a national hip-hop publication and currently earns her stripes as a screenwriter and director, does not have the typical background of one holding discussions about abstinence. She is not unattractive, an ultra conservative, nor does she live a low-key lifestyle. Quite the contrary, as a screenwriter who has written for several movie studios, been selected by Daily Variety as one of their ?10 Writers to Watch,? and directed a national awareness commercial that Viacom networks recently donated over a million dollars in advertising time to air, Monique spends her fair share of time enjoying the perks of her high profile career. She?s also guided by a very strong internal compass, which led to her decision of choosing a sex-free lifestyle.
