The Nature Conservancy is currently seeking three candidates that will work as a team in the new Human Dimensions Program. The team will use their combined skills to carry out applied research, advancing science and practice through field-based projects around the globe. Across the three hires, we aim to cover the following areas of expertise:
- Applied resource economics
- Some representation of applied development economics (especially focused on distributional effects, welfare assessment), experimental economics (focused on testing incentives and other policy designs), behavioral economics (focused on individual responses to incentives, including leakage effects, livelihoods choices), and/or ecosystem service valuation (focused on production function approaches and both economic and non-economic endpoints).
- Applied mathematics, with expertise in practical model development and application, optimization,? maximization and tradeoff analyses, and experimental design, in the service of practical conservation, economic or social science questions
- Policy or project evaluation with a focus on the use of household surveys and other methods to quantify the response of formal and informal governance structures, income, jobs, livelihoods, satisfaction, health, equity and other components of welfare to natural resource management or conservation policies or projects.
The ideal candidates will have a Master?s degree and 4-6 years? experience, PhD and 1-3 years? experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. We are looking for strong experience with diverse economics or social science methods and established record of their application.? Developing-country experience highly preferred.
